Truth Evangelistic Fountain Ministries (TEFM) was founded on February 25, 2002 and registered with the NGO National Ngo Bureau on August 25, 2002. TEFM-Lira [main] is a Pentecostal Church and practices a Pentecostal style of worship. TEFM has a vision of building faithful witnesses for Jesus Christ and with a mission of sharing the blessings of redemption.
As we invest in huge spiritual activities around the world, the ministry also empowers the communities where we run religious programs alongside sponsoring education for vulnerable children, supporting widows, conducting leadership empowerment programs, peace building, youth empowerment as well as running fully fledge micro finance services through Truth Evangelistic Fountain Church Lira Community SACCO headquartered at the TEFM-Lira Main Church off-Aloi Road, in Lira City East Division. The SACCO was registered with Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Trade and Industries in 2019 and now has at least active 100 members. While the SACCO continues to grow at such a phenomenal rate, need has a risen to recruit a professional Credit Officer to support the management in managing the credit portfolio among other roles.
We are looking for a Credit Officer to facilitate lending for our clients by assessing creditworthiness and processing relevant paperwork. Credit Officer responsibilities include preparing loan applications, evaluating clients’ financial information and calculating risk ratios. Besides, she/he will be responsible for timely loan collection from and disbursements to clients. This role will require somebody who has a good understanding of the SACCO laws, functions and management as well as lending procedures and customer service experience. Ultimately, you will help our clients acquire loans in a timely manner, while ensuring timely compliance.

Job Summary:
The Credit Officer is the SACCO’s Loan Officer charged with a responsibility to assess/evaluate, recommend approval or denial of loan applications for people or for business. The job role also requires you to act as liaison between customers and our SACCO institution and you will help qualified applicants acquire loans in a timely manner as well as follow up with prompt repayments based on loan schedules.
Specific job duties
• Evaluate credit worthiness of clients by processing loan applications and documentation within specified limits
• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans
• Determine all applicable ratios and metrics and set up debt payment plans
• Communicate with clients either to request or to provide information necessary to facilitate their credit access processes
• Justify decisions (approvals/rejections) and report on them
• Complete loan contracts and counsel clients on policies and restrictions
• Update job knowledge on types of loans and other financial services offered by the SACCO
• Maintain and update account records
• Assess customer needs, explore all options and introduce different types of loans
• Develop referral networks, suggest alternate channels and cross-sell products and services to accomplish quotas
• Go the “extra mile” to build trust relationships, customer loyalty and satisfaction in the institution
• Operate in compliance with laws and regulations and adhere to lending compliance guidelines
• Marketing the Sacco products, identifying new clients and sensitizing them
• Mobilize client and ensure retention, should be able to train, monitor, guide and supervise them.
• Loan processing, should be able to inspect the businesses of the potential clients, appraise the business and repayment capability before disbursement.

• Maintain records of the loans given.
• Supervise the loans and keep track of the repayments, ensure follow-ups and timely repayment of loans and take action on delinquent loans
• Prepare and submit reports on the number of clients, repayments, portfolio quality, loan recoveries and actions taken on delinquent loans
• Keep good relationship with clients and advise them on borrowing, loan management, savings and ensure clients’ satisfaction.
• Perform any other duties that shall be assigned by management
Minimum Required Education & Experience
• Diploma/Degree in accounting/commerce/ Business administration or Banking related fields.
• Basic experience in Resource Development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic experience in managing organizational resources including assets, staff and finances.
• Strong writing and communication skills
Skills & Abilities
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to appreciate and work with diversity in terms of religion, communities
